Nature Club Surat was founded by three nature enthusiasts in 1984, out of which Mr.Snehal Patel is still actively involved in the conduct of the club. There are about 1000+ members, out of which 400 are students from various schools and colleges. Today, Nature Club is a registered trust and societyThe club was founded by three nature enthusiasts in 1984, out of which Mr.Snehal Patel is still actively involved in the conduct of the club. There are about 800 members, out of which 400 are students from various schools and colleges.Today, Nature Club is a registered trust and society.The club conducts many educational sessions, eco-friendly campaigns. The club has also initiated countless projects and missions in the light of helping nature. Chief projects include The Deer Breeding Project, Otter Conservation, Vulture Conservation Project, CLEAN INDIA GREEN INDIA Project, Wetland Conservation Project and much more.Deer Breeding Project:With the aim of conservation, breeding and reintroduction of pre-existing ungulate species in the Vansda National Park, thus increasing the prey base and restoring the food chain in the Dang, NCS initiated the Deer Breeding Project in 2007 on around 2 acres of private land in Vansda National Park, the natural habitat of Deer. This project was initiated in close consultation and coordination with the Forest Department and Shri Digivrendrasinh, the Maharaja of Vansda and was aided by wildlife expert Dr.Raju Vyas and team of volunteers of NCS. NCS is probably the only NGO in the country to be running such a unique project on its own.Otter Conservation: We have completed our first phase of human-otter conflict mitigation project along with Wildlife Trust of India and Forest Department. Our team is constantly working with the fishermen communities to mitigate negative interactions.Wetland Conservation Project:Narmala Wetland Conservation Project (Gavier Lake, Surat)Clearing the periphery of Gavier Lake started in the month of March 2004. The place was covered with thorny shrubs and trees ( gando baval ). The fencing work was over by May. On 5th June ‘World environment day’ tree plantation was started. The lake has on an average 20 ft of land between the waterfront and the fence. Volunteers of Nature Club Surat visit the lake each Sunday to plant trees and water them.The result of the work started showing in the coming months itself. Birds and butterflies made their presents felt. Month of September 2004 we check listed 74 different birds against 38 in 2003. Nesting birds increased many folds from nearly nil last year. From June 2004 to September 2004 we have spotted the nests of Baya , Paradise Flycatcher, Plain Wren Warbler, Bronze-winged Jacana, Pheasant-tail Jacana, Purple moorhen, Purple Heron, Red-vented bulbul, Red Munia , White-throated Munia , Golden Oriole, Black Drongo , Asian Peafowl, White-breasted Waterhen , Great Indian Reed Warbler, and many more. All the nests were successful and the fledging flew away in the right time, making the NATURE CLUB SURAT members proud for their work.Many volunteers are experts in Animal rescue and their treatments. Surat city relies heavily on nature club for rescuing and treating snakes, birds and many other animals.Adventuring and having good times is at heart of the nature Club Philosophy and therefore the club is engaged in many thrilling activities. Duly, Nature club organizes camps which take you to beautiful locations and give you a feel of “Incredible India.” Club also owns many pieces of equipment and sites, for you to have fun in the city like the Mobile rock climbing wall.The club also owns a museum which is sure to fill up your head with loads of information and its contents will fill you with awe. Since. the Club is a registered trust and society, any donation made to Nature club is eligible for deduction under section 80G of Income tax.Help us do good deeds and make the world a better place to live in!
